Questions and answers
Everything about buying, installing and using a Travo Data eSIM.
Getting started
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you scan a QR code and the plan is installed in a minute. Your regular SIM stays where it is.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Most phones from the last few years do, including iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer and recent Samsung Galaxy models. To check yours, dial *#06#: if you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM. The phone must also be carrier-unlocked.
When should I buy and install my eSIM?
You can buy it any time and install it before you leave, while you are on Wi-Fi. Switch the eSIM on for mobile data when you land.
Plans and payment
Which plan should I choose?
Pick a country plan if you are visiting one country, a regional plan if you are crossing borders (for example around Europe), or a global plan if your trip covers several regions. Each plan lists its data, validity and every country it covers.
Is it a subscription or a one-time purchase?
You choose at checkout. A monthly plan renews on the same eSIM until you cancel it from your account; a one-time purchase simply ends when its validity runs out.
How do I pay?
Card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers.
Can I cancel a monthly plan?
Yes. Turn renewal off under Subscriptions in your account at any time. Your current period keeps working until it ends.
Using your eSIM
How do I get my eSIM?
Right after payment the QR code appears in your account under My eSIM, together with step-by-step install instructions.
Can I make calls or send SMS?
Travo Data plans are data only. Keep your own SIM active for calls and texts, or use apps like WhatsApp over your data plan, and you keep your usual number on them.
Can I share my data with a hotspot?
Yes, hotspot is allowed on every plan.
How do I see how much data I have left?
Sign in and open Usage. It shows what you have used and what is left on each plan.
Supported phones
The quickest check is to dial *#06#: if an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. These families support it (some models sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao do not):
Apple
iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and every newer iPhone, including SE (2nd gen and later).
Pixel 3 and newer (Pixel 3a included).
Samsung
Galaxy S20 and newer, Z Fold and Z Flip series, and many recent A-series models.
Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked. Not sure? Ask your mobile operator before you buy.
